Introduction to RefWorks

This session will be available in person and also online through the virtual classroom. Please access the Library and Learning Services Hub on Brightspace to join online.

Aim

To introduce students to RefWorks. It is assumed participants will already have knowledge of Harvard referencing.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the session students will:

  1. Create a RefWorks account
  2. Import references from Summon and key databases
  3. Edit references
  4. Create manual references
  5. Create and use folders
  6. Create a bibliography
  7. Find further help and support

Outline of session

The session will include the following:

  1. A discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of RefWorks
  2. Setting up and customising an account
  3. Use the key features of RefWorks
  4. Importing citations and organising these into folders Creating a bibliography
  5. Finding further help and support
